Climate of İzmir
Located in the Mediterranean climate zone, İzmir has hot and dry summer seasons and mild and rainy winters. The position of the mountains laying perpendicular to the coast and the plains reaching inner Western Anatolia allow the milding effects of the sea to enter into the internal sections the annual average temperature in İzmir changes between 16 and 17 oC. Regarding the highest and lowest temperatures in İzmir, it is seen that the temperature changes between a maximum of 45 oC and a minimum of 13 oC.

Mobile Phones
The major GSM operators in TURKEY are Turkcell, Vodafone and Avea. You can use your mobile phone in TURKEY if your provider has enabled international roaming. However if you intend to stay for a long time in the country or make several calls, it may be preferable to buy a local prepaid SIM card. Take your mobile phone and passport to a Turkish mobile phone shop where your new SIM will be registered along with your handset's IMEI number and your personal information (Unregistered phones will be blocked and unable to receive or make calls). TURKEY has very wide mobile coverage networks so you shouldn’t have any problems in the main cities and tourist resorts.

The currency is the Turkish Lira (TL). Foreign currency can be exchanged at the airport or the front desk of your hotel. Local banks are open from 08.30 to 17.00 hrs from Monday to Friday. There are also private foreign exchange offices throughout the city that operate between 08.00 to 20.00 hrs.

All major credit cards (Visa, Master Card) are accepted in TURKEY by restaurants, hotels and shops.
Turkey  is  in  the  Eastern  European  Time  Zone. Eastern  European  Standart  Time  (EET)  is  2  hours ahead  of  Greenwich  Mean  Time  (GMT+2).
Public Transportation

You can easily visit the city by metro, suburban railway, public bus and ferry service which is a beatiful and relaxing way to ride. When you get a "smart ticket" you can use all the public transportation services.
